Would you have any idea on how to run VSCode on Centos6? Did you ever try to compile VSCode without and Internet Connection?Ĭurrently the only viable solution I see would be to create an AppImage at home. There are standalone solutions to run software on old distribution, like AppImage but VSCode is not part of their apps. I created a local yarn repository, compiled all appropriate version of Yarn, NodeJS but a compiled binary is trying to download electron and I have no idea where to put the file to trick him into thinking it's downloaded already (assuming I could). I tried compiling it myself but it requires to download many files and my virtual machine does not have Internet, I can only transfer files through ftp. I used the compiled version of VSCode from the official website. I tried compiling a new glibc and load it as well but it segfault, as expected. It also needed some more dependencies I managed to recompile and load with LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Install Visual Studio Code Once you have added the repository to the system, use the yum command to install Visual Studio Code. The bash script below will upgrade these libraries without having to build them. However, as a workaround, you can either build glibc manually or use the following script to install updated binaries. I would like to use Visual Studio Code as a C++ IDE but its intellisense plugin is running with glibc >=2.14 and Centos6 comes with glibc 2.12. RHEL / CentOS 6 goes out of support in 2020, so we recommend upgrading to RHEL / CentOS 7 or higher. This is totally out of my control and it obviously makes using up to date software a nightmare. Thanks for helping make community forums a great place. My company is using an old CentOS6 and they wont update it before months (years?). We are trying to better understand customer views on social support experience, so your participation in this interview project would be greatly appreciated if you have time. In addition, more Visual Studio Code problem, I suggest you post to StackOverFlow forum with vscode for a better help, where has more Visual Studio Code experts can provide better suggestion. Now, we can launch Visual Studio Code by running the following command in a terminal. # sudo chmod +x /opt/VSCode-linux-圆4/Code Launch the Visual Studio Code by executing a file named Code. Please run the following command in a terminal or a console: # unzip /tmp/vscode/VSCode-linux-圆4.zip -d /opt/

If your CentOS is satisfied with the system requirement, please try with following steps to install the Visual Studio Code in Linux.
